As someone with severe ADHD how do you guys get yourself to actually clean your room? It’s so hard for me to even get started doing it

I just try to do one thing at a time. Like just focus on cleaning my desk, or a shelf, or the floor.

I like setting a timer!! Just focus on getting things where they should be rather than making it look good. Dirty clothes together where they can be brought to be washed, trash in the trash can, bed made up, etc 🫶🫶

You don’t have to do it all at the same time!!! My biggest issue is folding laundry after it’s been washed and if I do 3 or 4 articles of clothing every time I walk by my bin it’ll get done eventually. Something is better than nothing!

Turning it into a game by starting an album or an episode of my favorite podcast and seeing how far I can get before the album/podcast/whatever is finished

I try to eliminate the need to clean a lot by modifying my organization to match my habits, but I do just get into a mood where I can’t stand the mess and can’t do anything until i clean lol

1. body doubling (calling a friend or having them sit near me) 2. doing a 20min work / 10min break cycle 3. starting with the easy tasks (trash, clutter, etc)

I convince myself it’s my friends room and not mine and I’m making it tidy to help them out. Takes a bit of focus and trickery but it helps. I also have a levels system from 1-3 one being basic clean and 3 being deep clean. You start with putting away clean laundry, then dirty laundry, then trash, then you clear a path to your bed, then you make your bed etc etc
