This came up in the comments of another post and I think it deserves its own. Do any of you (I assume most are in your 20s) have to treat your parents like children sometimes? Especially when dealing with communicating wants/needs or conflict resolution?

Most of the time tbh they were emotionally immature through my entire childhood and at a certain point I just. Outgrew them.

This. His mother was an early boomer who was 10 times worse. Family on other side are refugees and had war trauma so they have a bunch of issues that rubbed off on me. I’m never having kids because of it.

It honestly feels so good to know that I don’t ever have to have kids bc it was expected so much growing up in like a fundamentalist Christian family, I still catch myself being like “oh my god how would I manage to not fuck up whatever parenting thing” and then I remember oh yeah that will never be an issue
