I’m glad that I did jack shit to celebrate today. 100% not fucking worth it. I do not give any amount of a shit about celebrating this fascist government. I’m trans they literally want me dead.

My dad brings all 4 of our dogs into the basement and puts on titanic every 4th of July, and it’s worked for 20+ years

Genuine question: as someone who loves fireworks and wants to set them off on July 4th in the future, how can I most effectively do it with minimal environment harm/effect to those around me? If I go away from people it puts risk to fires (cause I’m in more remote areas idk how to explain it) and vise versa. This isn’t anything patriotic or smth I just love fireworks)

Oh also another thing about it is it’s weirdly disrespectful to veterans with ptsd despite being about us winning a war for our independence. Fuck this holiday in so many ways honestly😭

Like I don’t even like the military in the slightest but I feel like triggering people’s ptsd en masse is bad regardless

It also can be triggering for folks with ptsd that aren’t veterans as well. I had a coworker that was shot at several years ago and this day is not fun for him either

I can imagine. I probably have ptsd as well but it doesn’t involve explosions for me. I just get massively overstimulated and frightened on account of the neurodivergence. Whole thing is crap.

I don't like either lol. I used to have severe weather anxiety as a kid to the point where it used to make me sob and flip tf out. But now both just make me really anxious, as well as the sounds of planes flying over 😔

Fireworks sounds more like gunshots. Thunder is more of a dull sound that doesn’t sound as intense

Fireworks are extremely harmful to the environment and to both humans and animals health. Please consider not setting off fireworks. It’s disrespectful. It’s disrespectful to both veterans that have PTSD and other folks that have ptsd. When dogs are forced to hear fireworks, dogs hear fireworks that sound literally 3x louder than what fireworks usually sound like and it’s very traumatic for them. Please consider not doing this. Just watch a fireworks YouTube video

There is no way for fireworks to be done with minimal damage to the environment. It always will.

Also when dogs hear fireworks, they can hear it literally 3x louder than humans can. That is part of why it’s so traumatic and damaging for them

Also if you see off fireworks during the 4th of July, I feel like people will just assume you’re celebrating America if that matters to you. Imo we aren’t free until everyone is free and there’s still a long time to go before that happens in the states
