i saw sea otters for the first time in my life this summer in Alaska and discovered that one square inch of their pelts contain over 1 million individual hairs!! Russians almost hunted them to extinction bc they were referred to as “soft gold”. their population has rebounded in Glacier Bay National Park!

yea sea otters are amazing !! a youtuber i like is actually raising money for monterey bay aquarium in honor of one of their sea otters right now! he’s does this ever year. i think overall he’s raised a little over 1 million for them. it’s insane
