I'm limited by word count so here's more info! Testing centers tend to be the most thorough and are usually able to diagnose you with multiple things. But they are usually the most expensive! If you're looking to get diagnosed by a psychiatrist all you need to do is check what they specialize in and also if they take your insurance! In my experience insurance usually covers most of an appointment, but if you can't insurance then I typically see costs being around $200 (at least in my state)

Psychiatrists generally won’t diagnose/test for autism, mine won’t and it’s extremely frustrating. She diagnosed me adhd but I’d need to see a psychologist for autism testing.

Diagnoses under the more thorough and drawn-out testing centres and such are eligible to be used in presenting a case for financial assistance (such as SSDI), but ones from your PCP or therapist are able to be used for school/work accommodation even without federal benefits.

psychiatrists generally don’t diagnose asd, but they can diagnose ocd & sometimes adhd. a therapist may be able to diagnose ocd
