I’ve wanted to ride a horse for so so long, and now I’m realizing it might not be possible because I’m 265lbs and that might be too much for a horse to ride around on. I think I’m going to go cry now.

The rule is typically 20% of the horses’ weight is good, so find a big horse that weighs 1325lbs or more (average is 1100, ranging from 880-2200, so a slightly larger than average horse, maybe look for specific breeds) and you should be okay!!

It may be harder but there are draft horses who are larger and heavier and able to carry more weight

It will be complicated, but it’s absolutely still possible

An average sized draft should be able to carry around 280-400 lbs depending on the breed and individual weight Some breeds get even bigger and may be able to carry up to 440 lbs
