I appreciate people being concerned whenever I’m having an anxiety attack or a meltdown, but word of advice- if I’m going non verbal, crowding me, trying to touch me, and constantly asking me questions is going to make things worse. I need my space.

If these are people close to you, I recommend telling them about what to do that will help you the best in those times!

Would you then have the capacity to have a note either written or typed that says “I need space, please give me some time to myself.” to have at the ready?

That’s the thing, they weren’t, we didn’t know each other at all. This all happened during the first lecture of one of my classes and I just told them (including my professor) to not touch me and that I needed space while I was having my meltdown. A big issue with my meltdowns is that they’re sporadic and I feel bad telling others about my disability since it can be emotionally weighing (especially random strangers).

It’s okay, everything worked out in the end. 🫶🏼

I’ve been meaning to create communication cards for a while but a big issue that comes with it is that these meltdowns rarely happen ever since I’ve been medicated for my depression so when something does happen, it’s usually once in a bloom moon sort of thing. I’ll probably make some this weekend.
