By the way I *know* how much the autism community ebbs and flows with this type of therapy but I’m mostly just looking for functional communication with my 2-8 year olds so that we can get them in school :)

not sure which part I find more baffling, the “some days are hard” (are we expected to feel bad for OP just because little kids act out when you try to train them as if they were dogs?) or the “when I see how much y’all love your lives” (is the presumption that if we’re well-adjusted as young adults then we must have undergone ABA ourselves?)

everything about this post made me uncomfortable. this is why I continue to tell people that just because you’re neurodivergent doesn’t mean you understand autism or our needs. the “I see how much yall love your lives” threw me off so bad… acting like I have cancer or some shit I just need people exactly like this person to treat me like a normal human being…

I also hate when yall say stuff like “my 2-8 yr olds” they’re not yours…. ITS SO ODD.

fr—even in spite of the context, when I first read that reply I momentarily presumed OP must be a parent based on the possessive wording 😬

real, plus even if this person *is* autistic themself, it’s not like that automatically makes them incapable of 1) harming others with their own internalized ableism or 2) holding dehumanizing attitudes towards young children
