is it an ND thing to be so weirdly stubborn about stupid things? whenever someone suggests that i do something, even if it’s a good idea and good for me, i immediately just don’t want to do it. because someone said i should. and now it’s embarrassing

Oh yea that’s oppositional defiant disorder I think. It’s a symptom of a couple neurodivergencies

Yes. Idk which conditions specifically but I have ADHD and BPD, and I remember when I was younger I would be on my way to do a chore, but the second a parent said I should do that chore I didn’t want to anymore and I’d get very upset.

I never knew there was a specific term for this, thanks! I see now that it goes hand in hand with ADHD so that adds up

Can you have ODD and not be ND? Or does ODD fall under the ND umbrella?

ODD is ND but I would like to caution ODD is very rarely diagnosed and is ALOT of resistance even when the person with it understands whatever they have to do is beneficial, to the detriment of their own life from their angry/frustrated outbursts. It’s a totally normal thing to have and if it is more severe than you observe most other people and you have something like autism or adhd— you’re more likely to have PDA or pathological demand avoidance

My dad is very back and forth on whether or not he thinks I have adhd or autism (undiagnosed for both) but he's like so convinced I have ODD so it's kinda funny to find out he still thinks I'm ND and probably doesn't even realize it
