Neurodivergent people shouldn’t have to reach burnout before we believe they need accommodations.

Personally I didn’t know I was neurodivergent until I burnt out. I didn’t even know until after the burnout ended when I had the energy to do some introspection

I don’t use accommodations bc none of them seem like they would genuinely help me- as someone with adhd needing to schedule every single test I take ahead of time in order to get extra time is simply just a no-go, and then taking the test in a separate room away from the motivation of sitting in a lecture hall surrounded by ppl also taking the same test as me? That just would not work for me

i don’t use accommodations because i don’t want anyone in my classes to know i have adhd / deal with things differently then “normal” people

Partly because people always be equating trauma with a physical injury, though we know that’s not true. There needs to be more awareness & education in the general public ✌️

I think if I went to therapy 6 months before I actually started going when I actually needed it my life would be completely different

I had to take two years off technically one but since u basically lost my HOPE I say two. Anyway, You’re completely right.. and I don’t even think accommodations even know what they’re accommodating.

Teachers aren’t supposed to single out the neurodivergent but it does happen sadly, there are a lot of epic teachers that are goated at making it look natural. Why make your life harder just so people look at you as a lame part of a crowd? F* em
