Getting diagnosed with ptsd is so funny cause everyone I tell is like “oh I’m so sorry☹️” but no it’s great! I finally have validation lol. It’s not like the diagnosis is what gave me the symptoms.

Lowkey I might have it as well it’s just hard to know for sure since the diagnosis isn’t in the DSM and I had two separate traumatic experiences. I mean yea it does suck I’ve certainly had flashbacks and GODDAMN I do not recommend. I thought panic attacks were bad but Jesus. It’s more so that I spent a long time in limbo not knowing if I had it or not so the confirmation is nice to have. Especially because it might make it easier to get treatment for it.

Like don’t get me wrong I’m happy about getting my diagnosis but that’s only cause I do actually have it. I would definitely rather just not have it altogether😭 But if I gotta have it then I want the diagnosis as well.

I hope you’ll get there! I went through like three and a half years of it and I’m glad to be on the other side now.

Mine also doubles up with having a dissociative disorder so that lwk makes it worse. I know the healthcare system sucks balls and no one cares about diagnosing people with the right stuff but it’s better to be actively diagnosed than “I think”

(However I do now have like. A similar thing happening with ocd and autism. But those ones seem less likely to actually be true)

Tbh I think it depends. I don’t exactly blame someone who might have autism for not wanting that on their record. Especially given everything that is going on in the country right now. Sometimes it can be an angle for discrimination. Like sometimes it’s just some 12 year old with anxiety wanting fourteen different self diagnoses but still sometimes it’s an adult who probably has autism but is concerned about being put on a government list by RFK.

I don’t know if my diagnoses are on any sort of file apart from depression which I was medicated for and gave up on. It’s just harmful to people who actually suffer with a disorder and someone just saying they have it because they think so. Flashbacks and panic attacks are like the most common things after a traumatic event. That’s how it works. It’s what else happens that makes it the disorder.

I am not awake enough to have a debate about this. I got diagnosed by a licensed therapist via a diagnostic exam so if you’re trying to argue with me about that then you’re out of luck😭 as for the rest of it I honestly dont have the energy
