Last I checked you can’t predict the future and it’s not as smart as it seems. It can be useful for things like science or people with disabilities but on the scale that people use it for useless things like turning themselves into ugly shit or talking to it because they have no friends is insane. The fact that so many people use it for that so frequently is going to have scary consequences, so I don’t believe we should be pushing, supporting, or promoting it

I never said I could predict the future but you can clearly see that companies like open ai and Anthropic are going to keep on training AI to be smarter, more reliable etc. Chat gpt astra just released and they’ve already been in the process of training the next model. Ai isn’t going away anytime soon.

Again just because it’s true that it’s progressing doesn’t mean we should support it. It’s ruining our environment and people’s ability to learn by themselves. Yes some might use it as a tool instead of just for answers and whatnot, but that’s the thing is it’s that easy to take advantage of so why wouldn’t they?

In my uni a lot of professors started making exams worth the entire grade. In the short term I feel that’s the incentive for a lot of people to not use ai as a “cheat code” and instead as a tool to learn.
