I know somebody that found out after her kids were diagnosed. She’s like an older sister to me. She’s 36 and a PhD student in the research lab I work in. She really helps me figure out how to navigate this world that’s not built for us. I’m 23 and was diagnosed when I was 8.

There’s only so many people who can ask me “are you autistic?” Before I get the hint, though I did only truly get the hint when people studying psychology started asking me too

I think that autistic people who go thru trauma or non affirming care growing up can sometimes develop a personality disorder as a result. Like I’m AuDHD and got PTSD and BPD later in life. I knew about the PTSD and BPD first then found out about the AuDHD after.

so for me it was a screening for adhd, which included a PTSD screening by default, neither really covered the symptoms I was going to see my dr for so she suggested we check for autism.

Huh yeah that’s what I’ve been thinking as of late. I’ve just never been tested for it
