I moved to a small town and its basically part of the regular vocabulary here i fucking hate it and it’s gotten to a point where I got tired of hearing it and I call it out as soon as its said within earshot.

I agree :( and on a related note, I’m studying another language, and it bums me out that I go to subreddits in that language and they’ve somehow adopted the r slur into their regular shitposting, apparently more so than in the English-based communities I’ve seen

and irl. it’s a SLUR. i don’t care if you’re neurodivergent, i don’t care if you’re desensitized to it, it is a slur rooted in the systematic murder/torture/lobotomization of disabled people. the r word was also targeted much more toward intellectually disabled people who didn’t have the ability to speak up for themselves, so i really don’t want to hear it from any nd person who uses it trying to say they’re “reclaiming it.” especially because they’re not, they’re still using it as an insult
