“you’re so mature for your age!!” no i just couldn’t cope with any emotions and didn’t know how to interact with people so i stayed around a few adults because they were more likely to ignore me for the most part and not call me weird and off putting

“you used to only want to talk to older adults and never with your peers!” and then it took me until i was 19 to get diagnosed for some reason

Geez, probably because I was bullied and had no friends my age. My friends my first year of middle school were the ants in the colony I found under my favourite tree during lunch, assuming I even HAD a lunch period because the bus would frequently kick me off and I’d have to walk so I wouldn’t get home until late and couldn’t finish homework. 😒

Yeeep. Starting in elementary school and progressing into college I’ve always been a “””teachers pet””” entirely cause for whatever reason it always felt easier to talk to adults than other kids. Which was somewhat good cause it meant I viewed my teachers as people, but on the other end of things that behavior was uhh. Maybe not normal.

It’s cause the adults were required to be nice to me cause I was a child

“My daughter is such an old soul” No dad, you just need a therapist and stop talking to your child about your deep insecurities 🙃

right like!!! yeah bc adults wouldn’t generally talk to me about anything where my symptoms would come up or be taken as something weird but kids are more likely to find me strange so yeah i just wouldn’t hang out with other kids. like it was just me being quirky and quiet to them.

it’s so funny growing up and realizing every single one of your childhood friends were also neurodivergent in some way

i had a solid friend group in middle school, but if they were really true “friends” and not just people who tolerated me is another question
