There are many reasons why I miss my dorm, but the main one right now is CENTRAL FUCKING AIR. I can feel every droplet of sweat all over my body and it makes the fabric of everything feel weird, like I can feel every fiber.

I moved to a different state and apparently it’s NOT illegal everywhere to just…not have central AC :)

I miss the privacy of having a locking door and knowing that only my roommate would be coming in and that she wouldn’t be bugging me. Here I sleep in my toddler brothers playroom and he wakes me up every morning as soon as he’s up to make me play with him

None of the dorms on my campus have AC and you’re not allowed to install your own window unit unless you get a special accommodation for health reasons. Last summer they opened up one of the few academic buildings with AC at night for students to sleep in because there was risk of heat stroke. It’s awful

I didn’t know it was illegal to not have it in some places… that seems a bit classist and without thinking about architecture

Or more accurately little consideration for older architecture

Oop I lied (I misunderstood the law) the law specifically pertains to landlords and they don’t have to provide ac but if it’s there they HAVE to maintain it and it’s their full responsibility because of the heat levels in the state (lmao as soon as I typed this out I was like wait let me double check this so I don’t spread misinformation)

I thought it was illegal because its EXTREMELY rare to find a place that doesn’t have some type of AC lol and the leases of all the places usually have something pertaining to the AC

If there are truly any landlords in FL that dont install central AC they need to be beat tf up lmao. Too hot to be playing with people like that

Wellesley, it’s another Massachusetts school like #4s lol. All of our dorms (with the exception of 2 newer ones) are absolutely ancient and act like ovens when it’s hot out. They always stick people staying over the summer into one of the old dorms so that they can essentially rent out the nicer ones to summer camps or whoever else will pay them. Not ideal
