Idk if anyone else here feels the same but it concerns me so much to hear young children joking about real child predators like Diddy and Epstein. It feels almost like a form of grooming in of itself with how normalized it is

it definitely is. i feel like an insane conspiracy theorist when i say that it’s all a deliberate act by the government to make these events seem like a joke so ppl don’t take them seriously.

Even online when I see communities that have younger people in them there’s often this attitude that taking things seriously or with any compassion is somehow cringe and it’s so worrying. But at the same time I can’t even blame these kids because everything is so awful and they’re being exposed to it at such a young age.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s shitty it’s ended up in this format, but I also think jokes are a way to process information in the public eye, without it being as painful a concept. It can’t be serious and us end up with trump as president after all the shit he’s said himself. So either it’s all a joke, or none of it is.

I think it’s a form of coping. I actually work with kids pretty regularly and they are far more cognizant of what’s going on in the world than we think and that kinda ruins the whole ‘childhood innocence’ thing. Joking to deflect is a really common coping mechanism, especially when there’s nothing one can do about it. Kids have little control and autonomy so they grab for it in any way they can. This humor also allows them to educate each other without being ‘boring’
