I had a friend like that. Not only would she only reach out when she needed me, but she’d spam call me and text me like it was a life or death situation, and it was normally something stupid that she needed. She was making my anxiety worse, so I stopped responding altogether for like three years.

Well they’re not your friends either. Friendship is non-transactional and should be mutual. I think you deserve better than to be someone’s chore-person

Yeah I realized last night that because I have no friends I have no standards and no boundaries which then causes people to take advantage of me and then hurt me, and then I have no friends again, and it’s a vicious cycle.

The more I have no friends the easier it is for me to have no standards and boundaries and to get manipulated. My first friend group (which was all boys including myself) in college was like that, and there was also toxic masculinity involved.

That’s interesting because the longer I’ve learned to embrace being by myself since the moment I decided having friends was not a priority of mine, the more it feels like a chore whenever somebody requests to meet up to catch up or whenever old friends invite me gatherings. So, I had like the opposite effect. You’d have to be an extraordinary friend for me to want to invest any time in you nowadays.
