This isn’t the healthiest long-term strategy, but whenever you go to work, play a character. Instead of you helping customers, it’s ALEX THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ICON (or whatever name you choose). You might be stressed out and terrified of confrontation, but ALEX can throw on a smile and enthusiastically say “HOW CAN I HELP YOU? … MY PLEASURE! HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!”. This fake persona plus social scripting will make it a lot easier to bs your way through without having to be a real person
I honestly don’t think I can do that. I get very deep into my own head about things. Like whenever there were no customers, I was all ‘this is easy! I can totally do this!’ But every time a customer walked in I was whispering to myself that I wanted to die. Like idk why but I’m super fucking anxious around people. I wanted to work at Subway for a while bc you only work with like one other person. I really don’t think the customer is the problem, it’s that I feel awkward in front of a coworker
