I flip flop. I go to the store because I need a new dress. I leave without the dress because I didn’t like anything enough to justify spending money. I did impulsively buy a new blanket and a soup mug and a new kind of ramen to eat in the soup mug while wrapped in the blanket and then I refuse to spend any money on necessities for 6months in shame

I am only afraid of spending money if it’s physical. I can save so much money if it is physically in a jar in my room but as soon as it get assigned an amount at the bank I spend it on impulsive stuff. Especially because it’s almost Halloween :(

I do both, I make a few impulse purchases and then I go a month where I have a panic attack trying to write a grocery list
