I was a barista; here are some tips (that helped me, at least) - compliment specific items/accessories “Where’d you buy that [item] from?” - say you love their order “Oh, I like that [item] too, the [something about that item] is great!” - try to avoid asking how days are going. If the answer is bad, the customer feels compelled to lie (or tell u anyways). Either way it’s not great. - If they’re wearing merch for something, u can ask them about that. They probably want to talk about it anyways
