Idk this just felt icky to me, I can’t be the only one, right? I have adhd and it’s genuinely debilitating, early registration helps me to make sure I can focus in class, stimulants only lasts so long before it wears off and you’re struggling to keep up😔

i mean this is obviously somebody who has never experienced anything like adhd, you just can't take that type of ignorance personally

the college i went to did early registration for those with disabilities, student athletes, and dorm students that paid for their next dorm ahead of time

wait I might be stupid but how does early registration help with focusing in class? my school doesn’t have early registration for anyone so I’m not judging I’m just confused

also not even mentioning that selecting classes early means we can select the time frames we’re wanting? like yes actually people with disabilities may perform worse early in the morning or late at night, also if you are physically disabled you should be able to choose classes that have the correct access to you??

yes this is blatant ableism and ignorance. Some people literally cannot perceive the idea of mental illness they don’t personally experience

This person just sounds jealous folks are getting accommodations but what they are saying is just inconsiderate. At my school, early registration is available to sign up through our ADA disability department, but it also is an option for students that need to take classes only during specific hours like if they are working or have recurring drs appointments

i feel like it shouldn’t be automatic and you should have to request early registration, cause i’m registered with disability resources at my school but i really don’t have a need for early registration. some people would definitely benefit from it and they should have access to it but some of us don’t need it

Awwww sounds like someone’s bitter. They just need to grow up. Though they should’ve done that already at this point. Hopefully they will eventually. But if they don’t we can always laugh at them when they get in trouble for hot takes like this.

I mean they’re just wrong, like the comment doesn’t produce logic. And creates a flaw when it names conditions then invalidates them with no evidence. Then calls on toxicity to manipulate the audience

I am autistic, and I think I should not be granted special privileges to register for classes ahead of time. That’s what disability accommodations are for.

it’s more about how ppl who struggle with executive functioning benefit from having an extra week since that extra week could be the difference between them registering or not

Anonymous replying to -> #7 1d

It alleviates the burden of everyone rushing to sign up for classes all at the same time and gives more grace to those who struggle with time blindness and executive dysfunction. It can be really great for planning schedules and coordinating classes with things like work, medical care, etc., as well.

No, that’s special registration access. Accommodations for a course occur within the course. Maybe take that extra week to look up what some words mean.

People without disabilities may perform worse early in the morning, too.

upvote -12 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 1d

But not to the same extent. Having a disability is, in fact, disabling. That’s like saying “everyone has difficulty running” to someone with a disability that affects their legs. Yes, everyone has some difficulty running to an extent, but the person with that disability has even more difficulty and is starting at a disadvantage to an able bodied person

People without disabilities may perform worse early in the morning, and at the same time, people with disabilities perform even worse. That’s what a disability is

with that being said tho it def depends on the school, mine doesn’t really deny accommodation requests so there wouldn’t be the added issue of people who need it not getting it. some schools would probably have more of an issue with that

Like I said in my post I take a stimulant medication that helps me focus and it lasts about 8 hours, when I can register early, I am gaurenntef to have my classes happen in that 8 hour time frame so I’m not worried about not being able to pay attention :) like if I had 3 morning/afternoon classes and then one later evening class that same day, I would struggle greatly in that evening class. I appreciate you asking questions instead of assuming the worst of those who register early. thank you <3

The accommodation shit is out of control, tbh. Universities aren’t offered accommodations due to necessity. They’re catering to every whiner out of fear of being hit with a lawsuit. No one needs to register for classes early. Be fucking serious. If you don’t get the class you want, take it later. If that isn’t an option, tough shit. That’s being a student.
