Why are autism tests online the most vague tests ever. A buzzfeed test about what kind of bread you are would have more detailed questions

it’s funny bc autism tests are usually worded in a way that makes them difficult for autistic people to answer

promise i’m not self diagnosing. but i think what helped me realize the most abt my very possible autism or adhd or whatever i have was how confused the questions left me rather than the actual result that said very high likelihood/high amount of traits lmfao (also not saying this is what made me actually realize btw. i’ve been doing nothing else w my personal time for the past month than research and analyzing my current and past self including when i was a baby…my mom takes lots of photos)

probably going to get downvoted to hell for this, but it’s because any self ā€œautism testsā€ are inherently not legitimate. it’s not something you can self-diagnose by virtue of the fact that self-reporting symptoms is too inherently biased.

I went around as ā€œself suspectingā€ for like 4 years and finally got a real diagnosis this year. Honestly I think if you do enough research it’s pretty clear if you’re actually autistic or not, self diagnosis for that is one of the more valid ones. So I believe you and I hope you can figure it out fr one day.

some things that are ā€œjust autismā€ could be something else tho. I was surprised to find out I also have OCD

i have been diagnosed with OCD alr and was in therapy until i could not afford it for other issues. however, my fuckass therapist told me she ā€œdidn’t like to put labels on thingsā€ like that’s so fucking helpful as if i don’t legally need those labels to get help i personally need. but yeah no ive literally done sm research even before this for abt 3-4 yrs. but its just way more intense now bc how much its effecting my life w added responsibilities each year

i can just like feel the difference between my OCD and whatever else i have yk? but also can’t tell sometimes when they’re intertwined, but i can feel the inherent differences in myself that aren’t specifically OCD

bruh people like that pmo I’m sorry 😭😭😭 labels provide huge clarity, im still fighting for them to let me get assessed for adhd so I could possibly get the right meds for it

sorry I didn’t see this comment before I cannot tell what is ocd and what isn’t for me. To me they’re just ā€œthings I doā€, cus it’s been that way my whole life. I slowly realize more and more of what is ocd

hahaha i can’t explain it well. i can’t necessarily like tell oh this is an action bc ocd and this is an action bc of something else lol. it’s like i can just feel inherent like wrong issues outside of ocd idk

i end up spending more time deciphering how each question is useful for the results (to better inform my answer) than i spend forming an answer

Same that’s why I can never take personality tests because I always know exactly which result the question is trying to get at and it can skew the results if I’m biased towards one or the other

in a similar but other way around kinda way it’s also bc sometimes humans aren’t biased enough. growing up with certain behaviors and ways of thinking and just overall different issues that may be symptoms feel normal to the point they aren’t thought abt as deeply when taking a quick test online. im saying this as someone who’s not formally diagnosed but just my strong…ideaaaa ig of SOMETHING is from doing in depth analysis, and ofc not adequate enough to be a diagnosis, but for my abilities in

depth research w both medical texts along w personal stories. anyway ive realized that symptoms ive reported as not having are actually indeed very prominent symptoms i do have, but i have just subconsciously alr accepted them as ā€œnormalā€ to where i didn’t do this literally dissection of every single thing abt myself since childhood onward lmao

most people who are seriously considering something don’t stop at surface level online tests, so while I see what you’re saying, I don’t think anyone’s self diagnosing from taking an idrlabs autism test
