My dad has had only one brand of car and only one breed of dog for the last 30 years. He has an extensive blu-ray, CD and comic book collection, and regularly goes to cons to get more comics. At this point I need to ask if autism is diagnosed with my dad
Do your parents think they “normal” but based off of childhood stories, they would’ve been diagnosed with SOMETHING

Before my dad died, he told me that there wasn’t anything like autism when he was growing up. I was also diagnosed after he passed. Meanwhile, my dad could tell you the exact score and stat line from every Arkansas Razorbacks basketball game ever played, and my grandpa has every Massey Ferguson and John Deere part number memorized since the 1930s.

Not to mention my dad drank black coffee exclusively all day long, even minutes before bed. My grandmother had over 1000 ceramic elephants throughout her house and made the same 7 meals on the same rotation for over 40 years. My aunt was a rural southern lesbian with a chicken obsession. She owned over 50 as outside pets and had her entire home decorated with chicken decor.

Is he big? Because that would be hilarious.

Not really, he’s only about 5’6 (I ended up being 5’2)

:( One of my friends from high school is about 6’2 325lb and drives a red Miata. It’s the funniest thing ever to see him driving down the road. He is hunched over in his own car because he can’t fit. His head legit touches the top.

My dad also had a red one. The most autistic part for me isn’t that he has only had Mazdas, it’s that HE STILL HAS HIS FIRST MIATA 30 YEARS LATER. It’s basically a lemon now, but it sits in our driveway to this day

Does he play racing games?

No, he actually despises video games because back in 2005 he got locked into playing Warcraft for 12 hours straight and realized that if he ever got into gaming, he would never get out.

Actually I take that back, the only game he has ever enjoyed was just dance on the Wii because he liked using it to exercise

Give me 5 minutes. I’ll get him back into Warcraft. There has to be a Miata in there somewhere.

I wish he would be chill about games, I basically had to gentle parent him into watching shows like the last of us and fallout, cause he didn’t like that they came from games. I don’t like my dad if that isn’t clear by my tone, but I am a gamer and I do not endorse my dad’s anti-gamer sentiments

Yeah; I don’t like that high school guy anymore, either. He’s a cop now, and he went full cop already.
