hi sorry posting this here too because i neeeed help 😭 anyone who has misophonia / gets triggered by sounds, how do you cope with it? i get this insane anger that literally only happens when i hear a trigger sound and idk what to do… any advice is great!
chewing with your mouth open / chewing obnoxiously loud is so so rude and annoying 😭 i have misophonia so im like hardwired to be sensitive about this but at a certain point its also just annoying period im sorry 😭

for context im at home and my mom notoriously chews SO loud + chews with her mouth open and she knows it bothers me but i think its just a habit she isnt gonna change. i dont want people to accommodate for me or whatever because this is my issue but like the level of triggered i get is unreal 😭 any tips on how to either self regulate or just what to do when in situations like this is so helpful ty guys 🫶

Loop earplugs saved my life. They’re subtle, and they filter the bad noise out while making conversation still audible

ive been struggling with misophonia rage at home too, pretty much the only thing that’s helped me so far is getting away from the sound and going for a walk. clears my head, and getting a little exercise burns up some of the anger-energy

i hum a lot or wear headphones. helps a little but doesn’t always block everything out

I apologize if they’re not as cost accessible as other options but they’re reusable so buy one or two pairs and you’re good. I hope they help you.
