This one girl in my class was upset she had to write in a different colored pen because it “upset her OCD” and I wanted to scream so badly

I mean it could be ocd if her brain is telling her it’s wrong/something bad will happen if her notes don’t match exactly

That actually was how my OCD manifested in high school. Once had to rip out 5 pages of notes and rewrite them all because I did them in pen instead of pencil.

I let my sister have one piece of candy and she was like 'well normally l'd take two bc of my OCD and I have to eat in even numbers but I guess I can just take two bites.’ THATS NOT HOW OCD WORKS. YOU CANT JUST TURN IT OFF

For context her notes were in blue pen and the only available pen was black and she pulled a blue pen out of her bag so the colors matched. Like I get it but that doesn’t make it OCD

Exactly this. We cant tell what is or isn’t ocd for someone else and shouldn’t assume they are lying just because we think it doesn’t make sense or is too stereotypical. If she has ocd and has obsessions about something bad happened because she had to switch pens, then it’s ocd.

That genuinely sounds like it could be OCD tho. Like I only ever write my notes in silver ink on blue paper bc I feel it’s the “right” way like if i don’t do it that way it bothers me so bad I can’t stop thinking about it, maybe she’s like that. OCD is not a singular type of ocd there’s many different types and many ways it can be expressed. You’re being a bit ignorant

She didn’t turn it off bro, she adapted to the situation 😭 she was trying to nicely ask you for another piece and still broke it in half to be eating even numbers. Having OCD doesn’t always mean screaming meltdowns when things aren’t copacetic; a lot of us are forced into flexibility

I didn’t say she should’ve had a meltdown. And she didn’t ask for a second. She said ‘oh well, I’ll just have one’ bc when I offered some I said ‘just grab the one you want.’ If she wanted a second, she could’ve asked for a second. And she did turn it off. If it was about one of my intrusive thoughts, I’d have been thinking about it all day and all night yet for her it was nothing. Just ‘can’t have two so I’ll just turn off my horrific thoughts.’ It doesn’t work that way

She also claims she has every other disability/disorder in existence so forgive me if I don’t believe she has the one disorder I’ve struggled with my whole life. She just wants to be quirky by saying she eats in evens. It’s the same as color coding your pens then saying it’s ocd bc you don’t like messes
