thinking i may have an unhealthy relationship with alcohol but in my defense it stops the autism and depression and ocd and suicidal ideation. so a small sacrifice for temporary peace

if you haven’t already, look into trying an SSRI. taking an antidepressant helps so much with social and generalized anxiety, with ocd, and obv with depression.

Alcohol abuse is very common in our community for that exact reason

Please be safe with it. I’ve seen what alcohol can do.

I started with weed to help my social anxiety caused by ptsd and autism. Then alchol. Then mushrooms. It’s a slippery slope, and I wound up in the hospital 4x times. I’m in recovery now, and it’s hard, but I have found meds that work after 21 years. I’m not saying your story is my story, but just from one autistic to another, please be careful with self medicating.

Gabapentin was a game changer for my social anxiety. It’s an off label treatment and less addictive than clonazepam and other benzos
