Cold vanilla protein shake to replace the milk in whatever your fav cereal is. It’s like the basic macronutrients you need and very low effort, I personally struggle with the executive function of having to actually prepare something when I already don’t have an appetite. And then this way you can just try to get through it fast and drink the rest.

protein shakes in times like these, it’s always way easier for me to drink something

I personally pretend I’m a robot or machine and start calling things system maintenance and input/output, recharge, etc. (it’s weird I know, but if I see myself as a machine that works or it breaks, rather than a human who can be punished or forced to eat/self care less- I work better)

I struggle with my brain understanding my hunger signals, as well as sensory sensitivity with food. My suggestion is to drink something cold/room temp while preparing a simple safe food. It seems to remind my stomach I’m hungry, both being stimulated by cold liquid and smelling/seeing the food. It also eases me into the sensory experience a little bit. Otherwise, nutrition shakes for now. SNAP covers them if you have it. Or ask a trusted health/mental health provider about resources if you can.

i wish my imagination was half as vivid as yours, it does sound nice to be able to project a mental image onto yourself like that

I have a weirdly vivid imagination- it’s a blessing and a curse as they say. But yeah- if you can get into the “I need this or my productivity will decrease and I will be not ok” maybe it’ll work. I just happen to like robots and robotic characters so it helps me to project my interest onto myself like that

i keep telling myself i need it and that i’m guaranteed to feel better after eating but it doesn’t really stop the executive dysfunction

Ok yeah I get that. You get premier protein shakes, dry cereal. I like cinnamon life cause it’s mostly bland with just enough to distract me from any texture but this is personal taste. Fruity pebbles idk. Don’t even need to get the protein cold it’s just more palatable that way imo, they’re non perishable. I just use the same bowl and spoon, ik it’s kinda gross but you don’t need to wash it if you just don’t leave anything behind in it. We’re talking like, my barely getting out of bed era.
