He might have flown into a wall and hit his head if he seemed dazed and unafraid of people. It happens to birds commonly especially with big windows

oh no, that definitely hadn’t occurred to me… it’s a densely-populated urban area so a lot of animals are bizarrely comfortable with human presence, but that being a possibility, ten minutes in the same place is worrying. poor little fella 😿
