I find that people tend to throw anti-psych tantrums like this after getting a rude (but necessary) awakening that therapists aren’t there to unquestioningly validate your every thought/pattern/behavior & you actually DO need to work to improve & heal.

original post was messy (and i am not in agreement with that OP) but i really think your response to it lacks nuance too. incompetent, irresponsible, harmful or even outright-abusive mental health professionals aren’t that uncommon—that’s more likely the reason behind such an intense reaction

That's literally just your opinion. Some people have the self respect to not want to be spoken to like this.

If you are incapable of hearing anything that isn’t a glowing affirmation, you don’t have “self-respect” you have an ego problem.

A therapist constantly affirming your every thought and action is just GPT4.0 and that’s how we’re getting rising cases of AI psychosis. You need someone to challenge you when you need to be challenged or you will fester and rot as a human being

I have no doubt that there are indeed some very bad people in the psychiatric field, just as can happen anywhere else. But the wording that OP used didn’t sound like someone venting about being actually harmed. It sounded like someone who heard the word “no” for the first time and couldn’t handle it.

I really don’t understand what it was about their wording that gave you this impression. the “most therapists should lose their licenses” part indicated the opposite to me, if anything that sounds like someone who got actually hurt, likely even more than once. I worry you’re just being uncharitable in response to their post having been written in an abrasive tone

Calling it a “scam” is not a criticism of harm.

it can very easily be a reaction to being harmed. as in, “all these people do is fuck me over, this is a scam”. nothing about calling it a scam actually directly indicates that they simply had a bruised ego due to not being flattered by a therapist, come on
