A suggestion for OP: I have two of these that I use in my workshop all the time; if you haven’t upgraded from a mechanical pencil to a lead holder than I’d strongly suggest you look into it. What a handgun is to a cannon, a mechanical pencil is to a lead holder. Only downside is the cost but it’s a worthy investment IMO because the lead NEVER breaks and it lasts forever I use the Staedtler Mars Technico, would strongly recommend because it has a sharpener built into the other end
The lead’s a whopping 2 mm in diameter, compared to 0.5 mm or 0.7 with standard mechanical pencils. This means it virtually never breaks, and you can also go way longer without sharpening it. It also means the thickness of your writing is more consistent from page to page because it dulls so slowly. Lead holders are most commonly used by artists, the only downside is that you need a separate eraser. But you can also use any color of lead in the same pencil and swap them out easily
