My dad said I shouldn’t get a backpack of certain “girls’ colors”, bc I already have enough problems and stand out and look autistic and easily exploitable and that would make it worse and attract bad people like my ex-roommate who SAed me. Thoughts?

He said “I could probably pull it off but you already stand out”. Then I asked him if I should let the same logic stop me from getting a JDM Toyota Land Cruiser (JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market, steering wheel on opposite side, and it would be 25+ years old), and he said that’s different, but not to get a Cybertruck, which I don’t want anyway. Oh and I’m not getting a JDM Land Cruiser anytime soon anyway. When I graduate I’m going to get a used USDM Subaru.

And then I asked my mom and she agreed with my dad because people always pick on me (including other autistic people. “People tend to be reserved about treating others badly but with you that’s not the case. They’re always picking on you because they see you as an easy target.”

I wanted this one with my name engraved in a darker purple. I got a green one instead with my name engraved in grey.

Here’s the one I got. I have the same backpack in dark blue which I’ve been using since 2015, and it’s finally fallen apart so I’m getting a new one, and I’m getting the same one but in this green color because it’s lasted for so long.

He said that about this blue and the other light blue which I’ve also attached an image of, but not the dark blue one which I’ve been using since 2015.

i think it’s more important to teach your kid to express themselves & how to stand up for themselves/defend themselves than to be like “you shouldn’t use this bookbag bc ppl will target you”
