There’s so much misinformation online about what autism is. It is frustrating and leads to people not taking it seriously.

This is true but also I didn’t think I actually had OCD for exactly this reason and it turns out I actually do in fact have super major OCD. Like sometimes it is correct.

I hate the learned helplessness that comes with it too. Like just bc you are neurodivergent does not mean you are biologically condemned to be a bad person🤦 part of the struggle is learning to work with it and find different ways to function in society, not just give up because its harder. Most people don’t have the luxury of just giving up, and most people don’t want to give up, they want to life a normal, functional life like everyone else, even if that looks different

YES ITS SO ANNOYING. My entire life I was told that I was too much because I wasn’t getting the support systems I need and everybody just thought that ADHD met your hyperactive and couldn’t pay attention but it’s like way more than that and it’s so fucked up.

yeah as someone also with OCD and autism the way its portrayed in media definitely made it worse too like look at sheldon from big bang theory. he’s literally all the stereotypes from the disorders. and the symptoms are trivialized and laughed at by the other characters and the audience.

this and it leads ppl to trying to falsely diagnose themselves or others. its happened to me so many times when i literally just have CPTSD
