maybe you could say you need a mental break from school and would like to take a gap year or you could say you'd like to take some time to save up money and/or try out some entry level jobs in the field you're interested in to make sure you know what you want to do in grad school also if you live at home I might suggest moving out if possible it's a lot less suffocating that way and easier to make your own decisions

Problem is I graduated in May so I’m already taking a gap year. And I’ve applied a bunch of places but not received any offers
