Hate when I say I’m autistic on any site and someone uses it against me. Like oh right I can’t say I’m autistic anywhere.

An example from today - I said I was autistic and a person wrote “I’m sorry you’re on the spectrum… I guess that’s why you talk like this” like why are you apologizing when I said I was autistic?

this is so real, i mentioned i was autistic once and they literally physically distanced themself from me and started talking super slowly to me to “help me understand”

I have the opposite experience. People treat me as weird and annoying until they find out I’m autistic. Then they’re sickly sweet to me 🤢

I just stare at them until they leave me alone

That’s why I’m so careful about who I tell. Like I won’t tell friends unless I’m sure they’re going to say “me too” or “I thought so” or not care at all.

I guarantee you- no one is holding that against you. It’s the incessant need to constantly talk about it in order to victimize yourself that’s causing issues. I promise, if you stop talking about it, people will still remember you’re autistic, and still respect you.

Why are you in the neurodivergent yikyak when you’re clearly not? Or maybe you’re self diagnosed to be a bit quirky?

lol. People 100% will hold it against you. Not everyone, but enough. Also “stop talking about it” is so fucked up. Autism is a core part of who we are, and it’s an important identity for some people. Crazy to tell people to shut up about their struggles and who they are. Like I would never say to a black person “stop talking about it” in relation to them talking about their struggles as a black person. Maybe just stop taking the “victimization” personally.

Clinically diagnosed with Asperger’s (this was before the terminology was changed). It’s an anonymous forum- don’t expect everyone to coddle you. You don’t like what I have to say, because deep down, you know it’s true.

Lmao nothing you said was true you’re just being an asshole. No one is being coddled, we are just sharing our experiences on a place we can talk about this stuff. Stop assuming what people are doing, again, you are continuing to make an ass out of yourself by assuming
