yeah, cause of both mental health issues and chronic illness. it’s extremely hard to talk about and a big part of why i compulsively self-isolate

I’m not a fan of showering but I still do it. Although I’m guilty of not showering for a few days because I strongly disliked how the water felt.

thank you everyone for being vulnerable and commenting your own struggles. this is genuinely making me feel less alone. i don’t have much advice besides don’t feel so guilty and ashamed. no one knows the exact struggles that you’re going through besides you. be kinder to yourself and celebrate every win. we can do this everyone!!! one step at a time

i find the heat and steam from showers to feel overstimulating, and sometimes even suffocating; however, cold showers are still worse

Yeah. Have a phobia of toothpaste. I can’t say the word verbally without feeling distressed, can’t touch the tube, or watch others do anything with it even in commercials. This phobia has spread to other soaps but yeah, it’s mostly teeth that are bad in hygiene for me

i hate brushing my teeth 😔 if i get a soft toothbrush it doesn’t get all the plaque off and i have to brush twice as long, if i get a brush with stiff bristles it feels like i’m scraping my gums

Absolutely, especially when I was younger and even in college when I’m going through a depression. Living on campus during college forced me to develop better hygiene habits, though it’s definitely a slow process.

Omg I need to talk about this with someone. I don’t have people in my life that really understand why it’s so hard and I feel like I’m at a constant battle to just function

No cuz it’s like theres a checklist in my head. There are so many things that have to get done before I’m “allowed” to shower, and ofccc my brain takes forever to complete that checklist😀🥲
