Omg. It’s not that serious. It’s literally just a post on an anonymous page

around 80% of autism cases and around 75% of adhd cases are hereditary. that’s a lot, but it’s still inappropriate to armchair diagnose people other than yourself when you’re not a medical professional (even if you were, immediate family would be conf. of int.), there are a lot of nuances to these things, and you’re announcing it to other people just for fun rather than a constructive situation like having them ask you what you think directly.

also carrying the genetic markers for a hereditary condition does not necessarily mean your symptoms are pervasive enough to warrant a behavioral health diagnosis.

I’m well aware my mom has no intention to seek out a diagnosis. I’m also well aware my mom is much less affected by any disorders she may or may not have compared to me. This is meant to be a humorous post noting the similar symptoms I’m seeing in my mom. I never once intended to reduce her to a mental disorder or two. Additionally I have talked to my mother multiple times about this and she has mentioned she “probably” has something.

Finally, I’ve spent 22 years with my mom and 22 years with my autism. I think I’ve earned the right to make a connection between the two. I apologize if I came off as diagnosing her without proper evidence as that wasn’t the intention.
