Does anyone else think that a lot of self help books are only catered to neurotypicals? I struggle a lot with severe mental illness and i feel like every self help book i read doesnt account for neurodivergence
there’s no science behind self help books actually working so there’s no advice in them that you’re missing out on

You should read You Will Get Through This Night by Daniel Howell (yes the Dan Howell of Dan and Phil) it’s an incredible book with humor and realness and stories from a gay man who grew up under a spotlight and has depression and anxiety

“To be more organized, sit in a room with literally NOTHING in it so you won’t get distracted :D” my guy if I do that my brain will implode and I’ll go absolutely nuts

And on the opposite side of that I can easily entertain myself with just my own thoughts regardless of how empty the room is

“Quiet your mind” my brother in christ, the whole problem is i CAN’T quiet my mind 😭😭

I WAS GONNA SAY THE SAME THING and like maybe it just works for me because Dan and Phil are a special interest of mine but I genuinely found a lot of the information helpful!
