Does anyone here have POTS? I have it and ive heard increasing your sodium intake can help with symptoms so i got a lemon lime beer salts thingymajig and ive been eating salt- has anyone else tried this?

Salt can only do so much. It works by making your blood thicker and increasing the amount of water your body can hold onto (salt is an electrolyte) and hydration generally helps. Personally it doesn’t help that much as far as prevention goes. But if I’m feeling particularly shitty (or after I pass out) I’ve found that chugging a liquid IV and eating a shit ton of salty snacks helps make me feel better. My recommendation is compression socks. Compression garments in general.

I do and I was told to take straight up salt pills 3 times a day. I’m not convinced it helps me but it can be super helpful for some people.

Ive never heard of salt pills, ill have to check those out. I think i got the idea for beer salts from someone saying celtic salt helps them. Have you found anything that helps you?

It keeps the blood from pooling in my feet and hands. And that means it’s easier for my body to pump it up to my heart and brain. Which means less non-consensual naps (passing out)!! Yayyyy 🎉

I take a prescription med called corlanor/ivabradine which significantly reduces how much I pass out. Other than that just lying down frequently helps a lot. If you want to try the salt pills you can get them prescription or just on Amazon or something. In my case they are a bit cheaper prescription but I’m sure it depends. I also recommend eating with them cuz I get super nauseated if I don’t. Good luck 🙏

You can also just get like empty gel capsules and fill them yourself. That’s what I do, with Himalayan pink salt. That’s supposedly the best
