I do wanna apologize if it felt like I was generalizing autistic AMAB situations. I’m genuinely sorry and will do better to understand all the angles next time. This experience is simply detailing what I went through, is all.
If I’d known how much discourse this would have made I’d have never posted it… smh In the future, please try to understand the perspective a lot of autistic AFAB women go through, as different as it may be.

I highly recommend a couple of books by Dr. Devon Price. First “unmasking autism” second is “unmasking for life” both have extensive research talking about masking. The second book really gets into how to unmask and live authentically. The other one is “Is this autism? A Guide for Clinicians and Everyone Else” This also focuses on late diagnosed/masked individuals but especially on the recent research from autistic females. I’ve found them to be extremely validating
