I think some people just do it to elicit a compliment? like “noo don’t worry it actually looks great”

I’m neurodivergent but I also kind of do this if I see even a single crumb around so maybe i am a perfectionist never mind

Yeah, it’s a sort of self-humbling to put the other person at ease, and to some degree, the speaker.
