Leave me alone, I’m writing autistic characters who’s autism isn’t a super power and actually hinders their daily life because it’s a disability

Current character is a fallen Angel who can’t explain to anyone what happened to him for weeks because the fall and just being on earth with the amount of eyes he has is overwhelming and leaves him nonverbal and constantly on the verge of a panic attack

If you can’t find redeeming positive aspects in your pre-conditions, you may have more than just Autism… (Depression)

samesies, my personal ideal re: representation calls for a bit of both. like for instance I enjoy how Will Graham in the Hannibal tv series is given that kinda-hokey “autism superpowers” treatment while also being shown struggling with pretty much every facet of interpersonal communication

I sometimes need competent characters that have autism but aren’t savants and struggle, because I’m autistic and I’m not a savant, I have a stupid amount of knowledge on dogs and gets into arguments because the rules aren’t being followed and cry when I’m only two minutes early to something because I was almost late, I need characters that I can look at and see being able to live and not being broken while also not being shown as having godlike smarts

I can find redeeming qualities, but I can also acknowledge most autism in shows is showing savants or people who have a special interest in something “useful” whereas I do not, and instead I cry when I’m late to things or if my routine gets knocked off balance, I have a ton of information about dogs, big cats, and how chickens make their flocks and think. I want to see representation of people like me in media so I am making it myself.

Just because I said that I don’t want my characters to be savants and I want to show their disability disabling them doesn’t mean I’m going to just put them in the sad boi corner and never free them from their puddle of tears

I have two unfinished fics that i occasionally update very sporadically when I remember they exist and remember that I need to update them, usually I end up posting a few chapters at a time when I do update. Both are from my hero academia but are very ooc, and not canon. They’re very much “what if” scenarios
