You would think people would choose a partner based on their character, personality, interests/hobbies, values/morals, etc. Instead they’re asking “is she fat? What’s her hair color?” Like CMON get your priorities fixed…

Hot take, but physical attraction is often the difference between friendship and romance.

Yall at what point did I say attraction did NOT matter at all? I said it shouldn’t be the priority. And I feel like a lot of us disqualify people for superfluous reasons when hair and weight and skin can change DRASTICALLY over a lifetime. I would argue that the people I was highlighting in the OG post value looks over most anything else. And if looks are the most important part of your relationship, then maybe reevaluate your priorities. Would you leave your partner if they got fat 10 yrs in?

Attraction is a fundamental part of any relationship. It’s literally built in our DNA to seek out mates that look appealing because it means they will produce good offspring. But I agree that it shouldn’t be the sole determiner of a relationship.

If you are not physically attracted to your partner then I see no point in dating, you might aswell get married to a friend of yours if there’s no physical attraction. Both are obviously important, so it’s kind of stupid to criticize that in my opinion. But if you are only interested in looks that can be bad too ofc

A person’s body fat percentage will fluctuate wildly throughout the entirety of their life. Their body will sag and age. Their body will wrinkle. Their eyes will lose their brightness. Their body may get sick or diseased. Their ears and nose will get bigger. Their body can break and breakdown. And your “priority” right now when picking a partner is their current body fat percentage?? Not “do we have the same values/morals for a long healthy relationship and similar interests and goals”??? Ok…

Values morals and interests can also change over the years lol none of the things you’re mentioning are stagnant. People change literally every 5-10 years, some more or less vastly than others. So yea, rn I just care if she’s hot, cuz all that other stuff I’d be willing to put up with if she is. But tell ya what, idc how cool someone is, if they’re chopped, it don’t matter 🤷🏻, that’s just life twin

Also, imagine being the partner in this case imagining you DO look past these things. “Yeah sexually I’m not really into you but I love your personality” is not a good thing to hear, everyone wants to be desired by their partner.

Nope, makes no sense it is the primary one. You can be physically attracted to your friends but not feel romantic attraction to them. Also aro people exist
