To free up cap space and sometimes that player doesn’t want to be on that team anymore

A lot of the times that player only had a year or two left on their deal (when the rebuilding team will be bad), so instead of keeping them around when they’re tanking, they get at least get something in return

I get if the player wants out but in my teams case cap isn’t a huge issue so it’s p much this meme
