Mahomes and Allen are easily the best players on their offenses. Lamar, Burrow, Stafford, Herbert, and Daniels are all at minimum, top 2 players on their offenses. Jalen Hurts is AT BEST the 5th best player on his offense, arguably lower.

I’m taking both Chargers tackles over Herbert

Slater is the guy who I think you could consider better than Herbert, but you absolutely cannot take Alt over Herbert yet lol. It’s been 1 season, and Herbert has been consistently great.

Consistently great at 1pm. Joe Alt can maintain his quality of play during primetime/playoff games.

Anybody downplaying Herbert as a qb because he had one bad game is genuinely insane. Dude has the traits of an elite qb he just needs to prove it

Alt has played in a single playoff game lmao. You cannot be making any judgement on him

“He just needs to prove it” my brother in Christ it’s been 5 seasons

Herbert consistently performs worse in high-pressure games. It’s not just playoff games, it’s prime time games too. Dude just can’t handle the pressure, and that’s not on the players around him.

1PM Justin Herbert is top 5 maybe top 4 but we don’t remember players by how they performed at 1PM

I don’t disagree, but we are working with a 2 game sample size in the playoffs. Also, you’re arguing that Alt is already a better player, which is just ridiculous

I absolutely believe that the tackle with the 4th best pass-block win rate in the league as a rookie is a better player than the QB who consistently shits the bed in high-pressure situations

Give the guy 1 more year to prove he’s that good consistently. You’re being reductive on what Herbert has accomplished too.

I think the standard that rookies “need to wait a year” to be ranked among their peers is ridiculous, especially for an offensive lineman. Joe Alt has been elite at every level for a long time there’s no reason to think he’ll fall off.

I mean hell no one would argue Brock Bowers isn’t a top 3 TE

Bowers is a bit of an outlier lol. Probably the best rookie TE we’ve ever seen. TE is also a much weaker position in the league rn than tackle.

I think it’s overblown a bit too, but I think we should wait at least a bit before saying he’s a better player than a guy with a 5k yard passing season

A 5K yard season is a horrible standard of excellence, hell Jameis Winston has a 5k yard season.

The list of players with a 5k yard passing season are Dan Marino, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Matt Stafford, Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger, Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Jameis Winston. Jameis is an outlier, but literally everyone else is a hall of famer. Herbert is in elite company.

Literally so is Jameis 😭 if Herbert’s career continues in the direction it’s going, he’ll be an outlier too. He had one of the best receiving corps in the league that season, and his team sucked so he picked up a lot of yards in garbage time. The rest of those guys also had their 5k yard seasons in a 16 game season. Herbert needed an extra game. Again, it’s a horrible standard of excellence.

Alright fine. Doesn’t change that Herbert is objectively great

Great, but flawed. Give me Alt over Herbert.

Original point still stands. Herbert is still top 3 on his team. Hurts is at best top 5 on his offense, and I’m being very generous by putting him over Smitty
