Patullo is largely to blame for sure but the man is in his 7th year or something, he’s got two Super Bowl appearances and one ring, he should have the cache to tell Kevin Patullo to kick rocks and run the offense how he wants it run

That’s what the elite guys do, they bail out the coordinator when they fuck up by changing the play and when they come to the sideline after a drive they say I saw this so I want to run this

Hurts was outstanding at this last year. So many of the Eagles biggest or best plays last year came off hurts audibles. But how much can he do it he can’t call the entire second half of every game. Not only that, but does he even have enough options to go to? Like if they are only practicing the same 5 plays bc that’s all they run he can’t start making his own plays as much as he is seemingly needed to. He still has to play QB

That’s a completely fair assessment, and I don’t disagree. I’m not saying he should freelance or he doesn’t do enough at the line, I’m saying week to week and season to season I’d expect more consistency because Jalen should have a clearly defined identity as a QB and thus the Eagles should a clearly defined offensive identity

Every QB that has a resume like Hurts seemingly(from outside looking in) has more input and control than Hurts has in Philly which is why they do this weird Jekyll and Hyde thing every time they change the coordinator

Well I think the problem isn’t the coordinator. I’m almost at the point where I can’t blame patullo for this year bc he just sucks and that was never gonna change, I blame Nick for hiring his best friend and not being able to let go of his ego and fix things. Which I also think is why we get that Jekyll and Hyde. When Nick sirianni is in control of the offense and has an inferior OC under him the offense has these issues every time. It’s not a coincidence that despite 3 different play callers

And the fact that Sirianni has this kind of impact on Hurts tells me it might be to the good to get rid of Nick

The offense looks the same. Nick, Johnson, and now Patullo all have run the same offense, nicks offense. This is a sirianni issue not a Jalen issue. His ego is too fragile to let his QB have more control over the offense. But when outside, established, play callers come in the offense is top 5 and Jalen plays at elite levels. I think the fact that not only Jalen, but everyone, changes so much shows is not a Jalen or player issue

And in all honesty Brian Johnson was not as bad as we once thought, it was when the season started turning south and Sirianni got involved that the offense fell off a cliff. Jalen was the MVP front running after thanksgiving that year. But one bad loss and nick panicked and took over

I think you are definitely right that it all comes down to sirianni and the way he runs the team. Today’s reports are already about getting an established play caller which will again take sirianni out of the offensive control and I’m sure we will see Jalen playing at a high level again.

A better, more secure football mind would have this team in the Super Bowl. Look at how McVay talks about the input Stafford has and he’s got more play calling ability than Sirianni and Patullo ever thought about having

Absolutely. The players did not win or lose the game on either side of the ball last night. The niners did not have an efficient drive til their very last one. Their offense was not good but Kyle was able to realize that a regular approach wasn’t working and they brought out plays to fool the defense. Their big scoring drives came on a total of 4 big plays to get 17 points and one of them being a WR throwing a TD. They abandoned what didn’t work, which is what the Eagles refuse to do

And it isn’t his first time. Howie and lurie can do almost no wrong they have built one of the best teams talent wise in nfl history but one big flaw they have is they need a yes man at HC. It’s while Doug was fired, and it’s the only reason Nick is still there. And when Nick gets his choice at OC I think he does the same, he picks his own yes man

Exactly. Ego is the Eagles issue. Bc when you look at mcvay or shanahan their coaching revolves around their QBs styles and strengths. Shane did it when he was here, and just did it again with Daniel jones. Moore had to change a lot after the first 4 weeks to best fit the team. But when Nick is in control the offense is built to Nick Sirianni, not the players
