I find the way we talk about old retired players so interesting. Like there are players who retired decades ago and 10 years ago you’d say “oh they’re really good but not top 10” and now people will say “oh they’re definitely top 5”

An example is Barry sanders, I feel like recently he’s been getting a lot more love than he did 10 or so years ago. Back then he was definitely top three but most people agreed Payton or Jim brown were above him or something like that but in the past few years everyone says he’s number 1

Fr when someone is still playing they’re mid and suddenly when they retire ppl start saying they were always toward the top of their position

Not even that it’s like the longer they’re retired the more people hype them up. Again Barry had been retired for awhile and everyone knew he was really good but now people are saying he’s the best and that’s not crazy but 10 years ago you would’ve been out voted
