Travis Kelce has never been “the best tight end in the NFL,” he can’t block for shit and that’s like half a TE’s job description

Aj brown is lowkey a better blocker than Travis Kelce, at least in the run game. In pass pro saquon Barkley definitely out blocks him, which is wild because neither of those guys have blocking as a major part of their job description

yeah, ever since kelce got drafted gronks been the best, and when gronk retired it was already kittle who was the best. and right now brock bowers looks elite so kelce was for sure never the best TE

He can block enough and the receiving numbers speak for themselves

Well yes, but being the best weapon at a position on a team will get you that title especially if it comes with championships. Do you simply want ppl to acknowledge that nuance when they refer to him as the greatest because I feel it’s implied if you’ve been watching football this past decade..

Have you ever actually watched a game? Kelce can block it’s just the hate yall have for Kc that keeps you from being unbiased. But you clearly aren’t competent enough to have an unbiased opinion

Really not besides blocking Kelce clears him in everything. Kelce is a better route runner, better hands, better football iq, and better at making big time plays. I hate the Chiefs as much as the next person but Kelce is still better than Laporta

upvote -2 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #10 13w

Laporta outperformed him with over twice as many touchdowns, a little under 100 less receiving yards, and far better blocking. Kelce also had a top 5 qb of all time throwing to him compared to laporta having a qb who’s not even top 5 currently. Laporta is miles better.

upvote 4 downvote
default user profile icon
Anonymous replying to -> #9 13w

Miles better is just not accurate at all. Kelce had a down year yes but still put up good numbers. Had 97 receptions, 823 yards and 3 touchdowns. Even in Kelces down year he’s still putting up better numbers than most TE

Top 5 TE in order go 1. Bowers 2. Kittle 3. Kelce 4. Andrew’s 5. Hockenson

upvote -1 downvote

Anonymous replying to -> #10 13w

Absolutely is accurate. Only reason he gets as many yards as he does is because he gets targeted like a wr. Objectively speaking he’s not a top 3 te.

I forgot about Trey McBride and he is top 3 so Kelce moves to 4, McBride to 3 and Hockenson falls out of the top 5

Except he excels at what he does better than any other TE in the league. Also not his fault when Andy Reid purposefully gets him involved in the passing game. Even when Kelce isn’t the main guy in the offense he is still a threat on the field. He’s just a dangerous as a decoy as he would be as the receiver

Again, you haven’t watched any actual games have you? Just sat and looked at stats, if you watch any game you’ll see how much field presence kelce has, you’re clearly just a child who can’t comprehend a defense. Yeah I admitted he’s got good stats because he gets targeted like a slot receiver. I also only said he’s not *currently* ,aka based on this year, a top 3 TE you literally cannot argue he is

And yes currently he is a top three te, he isn’t getting amazing amounts of tds, but like I said if you watched anything you’d see how he pulls at least 2-3 defenders every single play. And he is massive on third and 4th downs getting a majority of them this season. Laporta has the best running back duo supporting him and Amon at wr. If laporta was on kelces level and was able to make as many opening as kelce did maybe they wouldn’t have lost their first round of playoffs

Being more concerned about your ego and making a point instead of winning football games is the exact typa thing that makes someone a terrible head coach. I’m not saying Kelce was right to scream at Reid like that but taking your best weapon off the field because he hurt your feelings, hurting your chances to win the Super Bowl is soft and sensitive. If it’s a meaningless regular season game go for it, but in the Super Bowl absolutely not

You’ve obviously never played a sport in that case or if u did, you’ve never had a real coach that knows how to discipline your players and hold them accountable for their actions. U should respect ur coach no matter what. Kelce has been in the league for years he should know better than to not lash out like that

I’ve been in Kelce’s shoes before with getting into it with my coach and it did not end well for me, but it taught me that I shouldn’t be a little shit like that again 😂
