When you spend a 4th overall pick on an inexperienced qb you can't just take he's ass as a reason. You give him every rep to develop until the end of his contract. He needs to be told he has no leash and let him play ball. Instead he's constantly told hey we know you need reps to develop but if you fuck up we’ll bench you
You do realize the Colts are benching AR for Daniel Jones so they can tank right? DJ gets sacked twice as much as AR despite both AR and DJ playing behind similar OL play in pass pro. Along with that it’s not just AR being an athletic freak that gets him out of sacks as Flacco was worse than AR last year but it was only slightly while DJ is a statue damn near. Lastly DJ turns the ball over just as much as AR if not more and the only time DJ was playable was when the Giants had a great ground
On top of this he's like a older than cam ward and 6 months older than Shedeur. They literally drafted him stating we know we should expect his breakout to be around the end of his rookie contract. Then from day one have never practiced what they preached when they drafted him.
Game and they didn’t have to put the ball in DJ’s hands that often. AR has also shown flashes of being good but hasn’t received proper development nor good surrounding pieces to help further his development. The Colts drafted a project QB wanting his full potential but didn’t want to do the work to get him to his full potential.
Fr, I wouldn’t have an issue with AR being on the bench if they were consistent with what they’re doing but they’re not. I wasn’t the biggest fan of what the Panthers did with Young but it was smart taking him out to see what they need to change with the offense before putting him back in and I thought the Colts would’ve went that way when they benched him for Flacco but they weren’t and have just been flip flopping on ideas which is just doing nothing good for his development.
