I posted dtackle and linebackers because Jalen Carter and Baun both genuinely have a case for being the best players at their position in terms of their current performance, obviously Chris Jones, dex, roquan, and Warner have better careers but last year Carter was just as good as his contemporaries and Baun was even better than his, yet they both aren’t even top 5, Baun isn’t even a 90
Going off espn, in the regular season Carter had half a sack less, 5 more total tackles, 4.5 more tackles for loss, 1 more forced fumble, and 6 more forced incompletions. Postseason Carter had 1 more sack, 4 more tackles, 2 more solo, and 2 more assisted, 3 more passes defended, and the same amount of TFLs. Like I said Chris jones has obviously had the better career but just looking at the last season, there’s a case. Not to mention Carter being held every single snap
Leading in almost sacks and win rate and not being able to convert that into actual sacks is not the flex you think it is. Also who tf told you the eagles dline was far better lmao. I’ll be the first to tell you we were mid as FUCK. It’s literally just Jalen Carter and some rotational dudes lmao. Don’t let the contracts and the game against your shitty oline fool you, Milton Williams isn’t that good, neither is Josh sweat, the market is just in a bad spot
You don’t think fucking pressures are a meaningful stat? A pressure is defined as affecting the pass of a QB. Pressures lead to rushed decisions, off target throws, etc. Pressures mean more than sacks. Also, like you said, Jones also had more sacks lol. And Milton Williams and Josh Sweat are a LOT fucking better than the rest of the chiefs line. Also, again, better overall defense helps the pass rush rack up counting stats.
Like man I’m not trying to be an ass, but calling pressures “almost sacks” is a classic casual take. Sacks are not only the only way to affect the passer, but also a lot more variance reliant than pressures are. Nick Bosa in 2022 won DPOY with 18.5 sacks. In 2023, that went down to 10.5, but both his pressures and winrate went up. You gotta look at some more meaningful stats than just sacks.
Like I said, thank god he showed out, but that’s one specific game lmao. Plus Garret has like, NOBODY on his line and the rest of the browns defense was trash too. Plus he got that eye injury during the game too didn’t he? Didn’t have much to play for either. Yall also ran the ball like 26 times as opposed to 6 in the sb so naturally the pass rush of the browns suffered. All sweat had to do was pin his ears back and try to get to mahomes. That’s why I blame Reid more than mahomes for that game
I think it is when he throws back to back picks. Literally sack, sack, pick six, run, run, sack, punt, and then the next throw was a pick. That run I mentioned was the second one of the game, after 3 whole drives. They’re rushing 4 got 7 mfs in coverage it’s gonna be hard to get a completion
Oh yeah, so put the ball in the hands of Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco on a broken leg down 3 scores against the #4 run defense in the league. I get that Mahomes wasn’t playing well, but to put it frankly, KC was fucked if Mahomes wasn’t the best player on the field in that game. The only thing to be done to win that game was to trust him to be the guy.
